We're restoring the Current River

Ozark National Scenic Riverways define our state—but as trash accumulates along riverbanks and unauthorized vehicle use wrecks trails, the region becomes less welcoming to families. We delivered thousands of petition signatures to Interior Secretary Ken Salazar in support of increased protections for the Ozark National Scenic Riverways. And now, the National Park Service is crafting a new plan to better manage the Current River.

Landmark Mercury and Air Toxics Pollution Limits Announced

Today, President Obama and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced the first-ever nationwide standard for mercury and air toxics pollution from power plants. Missouri power plants emit more mercury than those in 46 other states. The new standard is expected to cut toxic mercury pollution from power plants by 90 percent and protect public health.

Smog is a harmful air pollutant that leads to asthma attacks and exacerbates respiratory illnesses, especially among children and the elderly.
